To begin, I generally consider myself to be an efficient person. I am a firm believer is setting small, obtainable life goals, in order to see steady, constant personal progression in both my business and personal life. With that said, I am still riddled with many issues, one of which is time management. This, for me, was the reason to investigate this book. Let me also state that I am a skeptic of all books in the non-fiction realm, especially those that title indicates I am going to feel that my personal business style is jumbled, and I often hesitate to begin books, where I may have the utmost chance of feeling that my professed lack of time management skills may be leading to a dysfunctional home life. All of my original reservations were soon found to be unfounded as The Secret to Peak Productivity: A Simple Guide to Reaching Your Personal Best, has proven to be a great time-saving device in my overall business reading arsenal!
I believe the benefits from this book stems from Myles herself, is a Registered Certified Professional Organizer, and productivity expert, who models her approach on the Productivity Pyramid, a program that allows individuals to create and provide their own framework to achieving better results. This book outlines her theories, her methodical, but easy to understand sequence of steps leading to peak performance. This framework utilizes five steps, physical organization, electronic organization, time management mastery, activity-goal alignment, and the integrated possibility for personal change and growth. Why does the book outline a five step system? The author cleverly details, in a very commonsensical approach, that since no single solution will work for everyone, The Secret to Peak Productivity helps you tailor your own personal plan.
What’s even more refreshing about the text, is that it first starts the reader out with a simple, step-by-step personal growth assessment, to help you determine your strengths and weaknesses, which pinpoints the areas in your business and personal life, that focus is needed to produce for immediate productivity results. Moreover, as you reach each productivity level, Myles outlines a range of potential new strategies, which allow the reader to chose the path they feel will help them have the most long-lasting personal results.
The Secret to Peak Productivity: A Simple Guide to Reaching Your Personal Best, not only quieted my initial reservations, but quenched my thirst for finding new, exciting, and lasting methods for the current business and personal endeavors I am undertaking in such a way, that I do not feel as if these new productivity assessments and implemented changes will eventually go by the wayside. Myles instructs on longevity, and not brevity.
To sum this text, I would say that The Secret to Peak Productivity: A Simple Guide to Reaching Your Personal Best, helps readers to not only your work life but also the personal life, as well as clearly outlines and aids you in identifying your where you preeminent business prioritizes should lie, and more importantly, and how to approach end-goal strategies for each. Myles five-step approach is sure to aid people of all walks of life, with perhaps the only exception being that some of the latter chapters, which explained very small ideas, were too mundane, in my opinion. All-in-all, the book is truly a both a business and personal life-saver, and truly eye-opening, in its pursuit to help the reader be as productive as possible!
