Calling my my fellow Amazon Prime members! I just wanted to post a heads-up for all your Amazon Prime members/Amazon Student Members, those of you considering a membership, or former members looking to renew their memberships! Amazon.com has announced that existing Prime members will now pay $99 per year, on their annual renewal date, and Amazon Student members will pay $49; Amazon Mom member subscriptions will also be affected. If you are an existing Prime Member, you will be receiving an email from Amazon.com, with this announcement and date your membership is set to renew. If you are not interested in renewing at this increased rate, you will want to log into your Amazon Account and go to the Manage Prime Membership page online, and set your account to non-renewal; this will not affect the remainder of your subscriptions.
The email I received from Amazon stated:
“We are writing to provide you advance notice that the price of your Prime membership will be increasing. The annual rate will be $99 when your membership renews on February 11, 2015.
Even as fuel and transportation costs have increased, the price of Prime has remained the same for nine years. Since 2005, the number of items eligible for unlimited free Two-Day Shipping has grown from one million to over 20 million. We also added unlimited access to over 40,000 movies and TV episodes with Prime Instant Video and a selection of over 500,000 books to borrow from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. For more information about your Prime membership, visit our Prime membership page. Sincerely, The Amazon Prime Team”
With all this said, what do my readers think? Will you continue to subscribe? Will you hold off renewsing?
